London is a great Canadian city located approximately halfway between Toronto and Detroit. It has a strong and diverse economy rooted in education, medical research, insurance, and technology.
London is the largest city in Southwestern Ontario and the 11th largest municipality in Canada. This scale offers residents big-city lifestyle and amenities while maintaining a friendly small-town feel and tranquil residential areas. Big-city aspects include an international airport, a large and prestigious university (Western University), festivals, and the 10,000+ seat Budweiser Gardens for large sporting events and concerts. London is close to cottage country and is only an hour away from world-class freshwater beach and resort destinations along the coasts of Great Lakes Erie and Huron.
Practice options are wide-ranging and include all of the options that one would expect to find in a large Canadian city. To give an idea of scale, St. Joseph’s Healthcare (SJHC)’s Rheumatology Centre sees more than 10,000 patients annually.
As a city with an economy that places a significant emphasis on healthcare and medical research, London is a great place to pursue your rheumatology career. Its diversity in terms of both industries and people will provide your family with opportunity as well.
